Upfronts Roundup: Fourth Edition

nikitaThe Upfronts came to a close today as youth-centric CW announced changes on the horizon and USA Network talked about new shows and the season ahead.

The CW hasn't given up on the Wonder Woman prequel Amazon. CW president Mark Pedowitz said that original writer is no longer working on the rewrite and the project is a priority. Writer Aron Eli Coleite, a writer with geek credits including Heroes and The River, is replacing him.

They shuffled their schedule to make room for new shows and to improve their place in Nielsen ratings.

The next season will also see the end of Nikita, the network said.

You can watch trailers for all of CW's new shows, like Reign, Star-Crossed, The 100, The Originals, and The Tomorrow People.

USA Network, which paid a pretty penny for Modern Family reruns, gave series orders to two original comedies Sirens (written by Denis Leary and Bob Fisher) and Playing House (starring Jessica St. Clair and Lennon Parham). Denis-Leary-2

USA also announced their drama development slate, which includes the pilot Horizon, a period genre drama from The Walking Dead producer Gale Anne Hurd. Also on the slate are The Arrangement, a one-hour drama from Numb3rs creators Cheryl Heuton and Nicolas Falacci; thriller The Edge, written and executive produced by Adam Hoff and Justin Herber; and the limited series Don't Turn Around.
